Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said Singapore’s Changi Airport operator has expressed interest in cooperation on the construction of Tbilisi’s new international airport in Vaziani. The statement came after a meeting with Changi representatives during his official visit to Singapore.
Kobakhidze said Changi is one of the world’s leading airports, known for its high-quality infrastructure and services, making potential cooperation valuable for Georgia’s airport development plans. Earlier, Economy Minister Mariam Kvrivishvili also said Changi’s management team had confirmed its intention to participate in the Vaziani airport project tender.
During the visit, Georgian and Singaporean officials discussed a wide range of issues, including economic cooperation, trade, investment, education, and healthcare. Kobakhidze said trade between the two countries has grown significantly this year, with Georgian exports to Singapore increasing by around 2.5 times.
The prime minister also highlighted Singapore’s experience in technology, education, and healthcare, saying Georgia could benefit from adopting its practices. He added that around 30 Singaporean companies currently operate in Georgia and that several important agreements between the two countries are under discussion.
