Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze is calling on residents to actively support the removal of outdated garages and illegal structures in residential yards, promising that all demolition costs will be fully covered by City Hall. He made the announcement during a meeting of the municipal government.

Kaladze said that in Varketili’s 2nd micro-district, around 15 garages and illegal extensions have already been dismantled with residents’ consent, and the area will soon be transformed into a new recreational space. He stressed that freeing up and greening these courtyard areas is a priority.

“It is important that we green the spaces between residential buildings as much as possible. With residents’ participation, we can design projects everyone approves of - parks, seating areas, sports fields, and more. Be active. Your involvement is essential. You won’t spend a single tetri on removing these unsightly garages or illegal fences - the municipality will take care of everything,” Kaladze said.

The mayor added that landscaping work is also underway in Varketili’s 4th micro-district, where a 3,200 sq.m area is being turned into a green zone with seating areas, a pavilion, a children’s playground, lighting, irrigation systems, security cameras, and new urban equipment.
