Tbilisi City Hall has announced a tender with an estimated value of 2.5 million GEL for the design of an overpass, connecting Station Square and Tsotne Dadiani Street.
According to the submitted document, the new bridge will improve connectivity between Tbilisi districts, reduce travel time for public transport users, and simplify movement from the Station Square junction to adjacent areas. Moreover, by reducing travel time, emissions will be reduced as well.
"Overall, the lack of connectivity creates a problem in reaching the West side of the city, where more businesses, attractions, and jobs are concentrated.
A study on the analysis of alternatives for East-West connectivity envisaged by the Tbilisi Transport Plan, which was carried out with the assistance of the World Bank, through a multi-criteria analysis, identified two sides of the railway line in the center of Tbilisi "The best alternative for creating a new connection between (East and West) - a road bridge with public transport priority, between Dadiani Street and Station Square," - the procurement explanatory note said.
According to the tender terms, the bidder must have experience in executing contracts for the design of bridges and overpasses worth at least 400,000 GEL since 2017.
