Armenia's Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan met with the Iranian Ambassador to Yerevan, Mehdi Sobhani on April 9th.
According to the department's press service, the meeting discussed issues related to expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, increasing trade turnover, and developing mutual trade between Armenia and Iran.
The parties also discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation in agriculture and creating joint ventures in various sectors of the economy.
The question of the possible opening of an Iranian goods trading center in Armenia was also raised. Minister Gevorg Papoyan expressed readiness to contribute to the development and implementation of joint programs within his mandate.
According to official statistics, the trade turnover between Armenia and Iran for January-February 2024 amounted to 88 million dollars, which is 15% less than in the same period last year.
