According to a report by the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, published in Tehran Times, the volume of non-oil trade between Iran and Armenia grew by 6% in the first five months of the current calendar year (from March 20 to August 21) compared to the same period last year.
Trade turnover between the two countries amounted to 885,719 tons, worth $192.108 million, which is a 60% increase in weight terms compared to the previous year. During this period, Armenia became Iran’s 10th largest trading partner among neighboring countries.
On February 14-15, the 18th session of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Committee was held in Tehran, during which the parties signed 19 documents and memorandums of understanding aimed at deepening cooperation in various fields. These documents cover areas such as trade development, customs cooperation, maritime transport, food products, and pharmaceuticals.
As part of the event, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan met with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Economic Diplomacy Mehdi Safari, where the Armenian side called on Iranian companies to participate in road construction and infrastructure projects in Armenia.
