Revenues from television and radio commercial advertising in 3Q2022 has amounted to GEL 16,3 million. The figure is GEL 1.7 million or 9.3% less as compared to the same period of the prior-year, reads an updated data of the Communications Commission (ComCom).
New regulations on gambling broadcast advertising which came into force on March 1, 2022 has resulted in a reduction of revenues of advertising, ComCom explains adding that prior to implementation of the mentioned regulation gambling industry was the major financier of broadcasting.
70.8% of total television and radio advertising revenues was shared by direct advertising, the share of sponsorship was 17% which is 7.4% more as compared to the previous year.
Advertising revenues of TVs in 3Q amounted to GEL 16 million, out of which 69.3% was shared by direct advertising, 17.8 % was sponsorship which is 7.8% more as of the data of the prior year.
Imedi TV remained the main beneficiary of advertising revenues of televisions. The company's revnue was decreased by GEL 0.4 million to GEL 4.9 million y-o-y.
The advertising revenue of Mtavari Arkhi decreased by GEL 0.2 million and was GEL 2.1 million.
Advertising income of Media Holding (former Rustavi 2) amounted to GEL 1.5 million, which was GEL 0.2 million less compared to the same period of the previous year.
"PosTV" earned GEL 1.4 million, which remained unchanged compared to the same period of the previous year. GEL 0.2 million less was received by "TV Pirveli", which advertising revenue was 1.1 million GEL. The advertising income received by "Formula" television company did not change and, like the previous year, amounted to GEL 0.9 million.
In the third quarter of 2022, "BMG" received advertising income of GEL 0.8 million. The income of "GDS TV" remained unchanged, amounting to 0.5 million GEL. "Public broadcaster" received GEL 0.2 million less, which advertising income was GEL 0.4 million.
