“The United States’ decision to impose a financial bond requirement in connection with the issuance of non-immigrant visas to Georgian citizens is, regrettably, linked to the high rate of U.S. visa policy violations on the part of Georgian nationals, as has been explained by the American side,” stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The Foreign Ministry strongly urged Georgian citizens to adhere strictly to U.S. visa regulations.
“The Trump administration’s stringent immigration policy is well known and is reflected in a series of concrete measures. This decision, too, forms part of that tightened immigration policy. Accordingly, we urge Georgian citizens to adhere strictly to U.S. visa regulations and to refrain from any violations of the existing visa regime. This will allow Georgia to continue working with the American side on this matter,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia stated.
For context, the United States has extended its visa bond programme to a further 12 countries, including Georgia.
