The Armenian government approved an agreement with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) on September 5 to provide an additional $130 million for programs aimed at improving the efficiency of public administration. This decision was made during the government meeting on Thursday.
The new agreement continues the five-year cooperation deal signed in 2022 by Armenia’s Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and USAID Armenia Mission Director John Allelo. Initially, a grant of $120 million was planned for Armenia, but this amount has now been significantly increased.
The additional funding will be directed towards strengthening democratic institutions and values, improving the effectiveness and transparency of public governance, encouraging civic participation in democratic processes, stimulating economic development and competitiveness in key sectors, enhancing natural resource management, and addressing economic challenges.
