Between January and May 2025, USD 263 million was transferred from the United States to Georgia, an increase of 20%, or USD 44 million, compared to the same period last year.
May saw the highest monthly inflow, with USD 59 million in transfers from the US, marking a 25% year-on-year increase.
The surge in remittances from the US in recent years coincides with a growing wave of migration from Georgia to the United States.
For context, remittances from the US totaled USD 218 million in 2020, less than the amount sent in just the first five months of 2025. Annual figures show consistent growth: USD 284 million in 2021, USD 327 million in 2022, USD 460 million in 2023, and USD 573 million in 2024. If the current pace continues, remittances from the US are expected to reach USD 700 million by the end of this year.
Overall, Georgia received USD 1.399 billion in remittances during the first five months of 2025, a 1.7% increase year-on-year. The United States accounted for 19% of the total, followed by Italy with USD 244 million (16%), and Russia with USD 177 million.
