The General Director of Wondernet Express Investment Group, Mamuka Murjikneli, says his company is optimistic about the Anaklia Deep Sea Port project and stands ready to take part in its development. Speaking on BMG TV’s Business Course program, Murjikneli discussed growing regional interest in transporting fertilizers through the Middle Corridor, which passes through Georgia.

According to Murjikneli, countries in Central Asia are expanding fertilizer production, creating new opportunities for Georgia as a key transit route. “Capacities are increasing in Central Asia to produce more fertilizers, and this is very encouraging, because it contributes to the development not only of our terminal but of the entire Middle Corridor,” he said. He emphasized, however, that stronger cooperation and investment across multiple sectors are necessary, particularly in railway and port infrastructure. “The readiness of only one player is not enough, we must all work together so that more investments are made,” Murjikneli noted, adding that recent steps by Georgia’s railway management were “a positive signal.”

Murjikneli revealed that Wondernet Express is ready to increase its terminal capacity by 300%, but this expansion depends on synchronized efforts by other key actors in the logistics chain, including Azerbaijan Railways, regional ports, and Georgia’s own transport infrastructure. “This is a chain process. Azerbaijan’s ports, our railway, and port infrastructure must all be ready,” he explained.

“We are very optimistic about the Anaklia project and are ready to participate there, or elsewhere, such as in the expansion of Poti or Batumi ports,” he said. “We know there is cargo, and we want to be involved in transporting it to the international market.” According to Murjikneli, the Batumi Multimodal Terminal currently handles 1–1.5 million tons of cargo annually, a capacity expected to be fully utilized this year, with potential for further growth as regional transit demand increases.
