Unfortunately, we had five years of stagnation in the energy sector, - Levan Vepkhvadze, the executive director of the Business Association of Georgia (BAG) said at the meeting held between the members of the business association and the Minister of Economy on Tuesday.
"Unfortunately, we had 5 years of stagnation in the energy sector. The old PPA was suspended, while the new mechanisms did not work. But, today it is very important that the government and the ministry will represent new measures for the first time by which the government thinks to encourage the construction of electricity generation plants on renewable sources in particular. From the geopolitical situation, we see that energy security is the main challenge for the country.
Urgent and timely decisions are needed to start construction for the development of this country. Business is the main driving force in this regard, and therefore, open and transparent answers are needed to start the process together", said Levan Vepkhvadze.
