According to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, bad public transport over the years forced citizens to switch to private cars.
As he told the journalists when the residents of Tbilisi will see how comfortable and accessible public transport is, they will give up use of private cars.
"You can't blame the people, because public transport was in terrible condition. After the reform of the public transport, we will show the residents of this city that the public transport is accessible and comfortable for everyone. This will allow more people to travel by public transport and not to travel by private car", says Kaladze.
He also spoke about the strategic plan of the transport policy and said that the company "Rambol" was late in submitting the document. Despite this, the City Hall extended the term to the company by several months.
"We did not break the contract on purpose and we gave them the opportunity to present this document. If they fail to present this document, of course, we will terminate the contract. They have a few more months to go," Kaladze said.
